Writer/director Cherien Dabis’s debut feature, Amreeka, is a charming and heartwarming film about Muna Farah, a Palestinian single mother, who takes her teenage son to america in search of a new start, trying to leave the past behind her while adjusting to the culture shock of life in Illinois.
Dabis writes with an abundance of humor and brings levity to a story of one woman's determination and undying optimism in the face of adversity.
Lead actress Nisreen Faour as Muna, is amazing.
A brilliant debut from a talented new director.
